Free Smoke Alarms from the American Red Cross

At our recent Red Cross Shelter Heroes training, members of our church community had the opportunity to connect with Red Cross representatives and learn more about their life-saving programs. One of the initiatives shared with us was the Sound the Alarm campaign.

According to the Red Cross:

“Home fires are our country’s most frequent disaster — and claim seven lives every day in the U.S. But having working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death by half.”

“Every second counts when there’s a home fire. That’s why the American Red Cross is rallying to help prevent home fires from occurring and keep people safe. Volunteers and partners will install free smoke alarms and provide one-on-one home fire safety education to any individuals or families interested in learning about fire prevention, the importance of smoke alarms and fire extinguishers, and how to design a home fire escape plan.”

“Make sure your family knows how to prevent a home fire and knows how to safely escape one.”
