St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Hosts Annual Feast of St. Francis
Blessing of the Animals will Benefit St. Francis Wildlife Association
On Sunday, October 5, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will celebrate the Feast of St. Francis at 10:00 AM in their open-air Memorial Garden located at 10 W. King St. in Quincy, FL. The highlight of the service will be a Blessing of the Animals by the Reverend Canon Tanya Scheff.
The focus is St. Francis’ message, which is as timely today as it was in the 13th Century; namely, man’s special call to care for the earth and all its creatures.
For the third year in a row, a supply drive to benefit Gadsden’s wildlife rescue group, The St. Francis Wildlife Association, will be held as well.
Wildlife Rehab Manager Hannah Altonji will be on hand with a special rescue animal from the facility to answer questions about their programs and screen volunteers.
St. Francis provides vital services that support Gadsden County’s rural/agricultural wildlife heritage. They could not do it without the generous community support from individuals and organizations like St. Paul’s.
Veterinarian and long-time St. Paul’s member, Dr. Jennifer Farmer, says, “Animal lovers turn out with their dogs, cats, ferrets, hamsters, exotic birds, a possum, and more. The ensuing reverie is truly a joyful noise.”
St. Paul’s provides a special commemorative certificate to each owner for the pets that receive a blessing. Refreshments will also be provided after the service.
Donations will be accepted from 10 ‘til 12 Noon. Cash and checks, made payable to St. Francis Wildlife, will be accepted as well as other items on the St. Francis Wish List, including: animal food, animal bedding & cleaning supplies. Please bring or ship all donations to the church for blessing during the service.
